NEW YORK (Ticker) -- San Jose Sharks right wing Owen Nolan, who had four goals and two assists in three games, today was named NHL Player of the Week.

Nolan continued his torrid goal scoring by torching Tampa Bay on Monday with two goals and an assist in a 3-3 tie. On Wednesday, he matched the performance in a 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

The 10-year veteran is second in the league in scoring with 43 points (22-21-43) and is tied with Pittsburgh's Jaromir Jagr for the lead in goals.

The award is the second of Nolan's career, first receiving the award in April, 1995 as a member of the Quebec Nordiques. He is also the second Shark to get the honor this season, joining Steve Shields, who earned the award the week of Ocotber 11-17.

Nolan nipped Philadelphia Flyers center Eric Lindros and Avalanche teammates Patrick Roy and Sandis Ozolinsh for the weekly honor.
