Somebody doctored the personal profile Eric Lindros turned into the Flyers PR department, causing some strange facts to appear in the media guide. But considering Lindros faces a daily barrage of rumors and gossip in publications throughout the U.S. and Canada, an inside joke isn't that big of a deal. The Big E explains to CNNSI.com.

1. You've got the All-Star Game in your backyard this year, that has to add a little something to it for you?

Yeah, it does. I was born an hour and a half outside of Toronto, and I have friends and family in Toronto. Since I was 9, it's been my home.

2. What's your opinion of the International Showdown format at the All-Star Game?

I think it's exciting. It was put in practice prior to the Olympics. At times there are going to be some North American players that might get slighted in the game because there are only so many spots available. But the league likes it and that's the way it is.

3. The Olympic issue is still up in the air. Would you want to play in the Olympics again?

I think playing in the Olympics is a great podium for hockey. I have to believe, though, for guys to play at the highest level they have to have a few days to get together and practice. You can't just fire people into a dressing room and say, 'Here's a team' and expect them to do well on the ice. You do need a few days of practice and, of course, after (the Olympics) a couple days of rest before the season starts again so that the fans who paid the big bucks to watch hockey are seeing players in a rested state.

4. The media guide says you would like to have X-ray vision as some sort of super power, but how would that help in a hockey sense?

Geez, you know, I guess it wouldn't.

So it's more of a personal thing?

I think a few of those things in the media guide ... guys just fire in their sheets and I think they actually play with other guys' sheets. So we'll leave it at that.

So who's the suspect?

I've got my best man on it, but I don't have a name yet.
Eric Lindros Eric Lindros may not have X-ray vision, but he does seem super human at times. Robert Laberge /Allsport

5. I would imagine your medical file is about as thick as the Manhattan phone book. You've had a lot of unique injuries and a lot of serious injuries. Has that been frustrating to you?

It's been really frustrating. I mean, I've yet to play a full season. When I have been able to play, I love to play the game and want to play it well. It's frustrating when you get things on a roll and all of a sudden it comes to a sudden halt because you just can't play. Injuries are a part of it and the way things have gone, if there's any balance in this world, I should have about 10 years of free sailing.

6. How would you assess your career overall to this point?

I've had a lot of fun. We've played on some pretty good teams. I think this might be the best team I've ever been a part of. I think we have the best balance. Whenever I've been able to play, I'd like to think I've played pretty well.

7. Your name comes up in trade rumors all the time, and about 1 percent seem to have actual merit to them. Does that hurt at all? Does it make it hard to come to work sometimes?

Anybody can start a rumor, anybody can call into a radio station and say they heard this or heard that. A lot of times it's somebody with a lot of time on their hands and they're pretty bored. They don't get into your head. That's just part of it. When it seems there's down time and there's not much to talk about around the league, they like to make something up.

8. "Slap Shot" was on TV last night: Are you a fan?

I've watched "Slap Shot." I can't say I haven't watched it at least 10 times. It's a classic.

9. When you're sitting around the house with nothing to do ... what do you end up doing?

I've gotten involved in the computer quite a bit, putting up a web site and raising money on that by answering questions. It takes up time and it's fun.

10. Are you a hands-on techie?

I've got the bread and butter things down. I don't get into the fine art of hacking, if you will.
