PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The agent for Pittsburgh Penguin Ron Tugnutt says the star goalie probably won't return to the team in the fall.

Agent Pat Morris says Tugnutt expects to test the free agent market when he becomes eligible July 1st instead of signing a new contract with the Penguins before that time.

The Penguins obtained Tugnutt in a trade for Tom Barrasso who was shipped to the Ottawa Senators in March.

Tugnutt ended up starring for the Penguins during their playoff run, and figures to command more money than the Penguins are willing to pay.

Tugnutt made $552,000 a year ago but is seeking at least $1.5 million this year.

Tugnutt was left unprotected by the Penguins and could also be taken in the expansion draft Friday by one of two new teams joining the league, the Columbus Blue Jackets or the Minnesota Wild.
