Patrick Roy reached win No. 448 and broke Terry Sawchuk's NHL record for regular-season victories Tuesday night when the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Washington Capitals 4-3.
Throughout his career, Roy has received three Vezina Trophies for being the best goalie as voted by the NHL general managers, four William Jennings Trophies for playing on the team that surrendered the fewest goals in the NHL over a season and two Conn Smythe Trophies as MVP of the playoffs.
