SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Preseason games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Anchorage, Alaska, between the San Jose Sharks and St. Louis Blues have been canceled.

Saturday's game already had been canceled by the NHL. After consultation between the teams, the Sharks and Blues decided to cancel Sunday's game as well.

"We are very disappointed for all hockey fans in Alaska that we will not have the opportunity to showcase the NHL and the San Jose Sharks in Anchorage, Sharks president Greg Jamison said. "However, in light of the tragic events that have taken place in America over the past few days, this is the right thing to do."
