LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Kings try to extend their home unbeaten streak against the Detroit Red Wings to six games on Monday when they complete a five-game homestand at the Staples Center.

The Kings are unbeaten in their last five home games against the Red Wings (4-0-1), including a 3-2 victory on October 12. Detroit has not won in the Staples Center since March 7, 2000 and is just 21-42-15 all time on the road against Los Angeles.

Los Angeles improved to 2-2 on its homestand with a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

Ryan Flinn scored his first career goal and Eric Belanger also scored for the injury-plagued Kings, who have eight players on injured reserve, including four with concussions.

Los Angeles has won seven of its last 10 home games and is 18-15-1 at the Staples Center this season.

The Kings are eight points behind the Edmonton Oilers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Detroit had its eight-game winning streak snapped with a 4-1 loss at Anaheim in the opener of a three-game road trip on Sunday.

Brett Hull scored the lone goal as the Red Wings played without captain Steve Yzerman, who sat out for the second time in seven games since returning from knee surgery.

Detroit went 0-for-2 on the power play, failing to score with the man advantage for the first time in seven games.

The Red Wings had a three-game road winning streak snapped and fell to 15-12-4-1 away from home.

Detroit is two points behind second-place Vancouver in the Western Conference standings and has a four-point lead on second-place St. Louis in the Central Division.
