ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Luc Robitaille's historic goal was all the Detroit Red Wings needed.

Robitaille became the 13th player in NHL history to score 600 goals and Dominik Hasek made 19 saves as the Red Wings posted a 1-0 victory over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

It didn't take long for Robitaille to make history as he deflected Sergei Fedorov's wrist shot past Jean-Sebastien Giguere 8:53 into the contest.

With Anaheim defenseman Niclas Havelid serving a penalty for holding, the Red Wings charged into Anaheim's zone. Fedorov took a pass from Brendan Shanahan and his wrister deflected off Robitaille's stick past the left side of Giguere.

"I saw him wind up to shoot the first time and I went behind the net to get open," he said. "Then the second time when he let go of the wrister, I got my stick on it. It makes it fun, a 1-0 game you can't get much better than that.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd get 600. I'm in some special company."

Robitaille became the fifth active player to reach 600 goals, joining teammates Brett Hull and Steve Yzerman along with Mark Messier of the New York Rangers and Mario Lemiuex of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"His goal was like he usually scores them," Detroit coach Scotty Bowman said. "It was a fitting goal for it and it was a winning goal and it will be memorable."

He is also just the second left wing to score 600, Hall of Famer Bobby Hull (Brett's father) is the only other one.

Robitaille needs one more goal to tie Jari Kurri for 12th place and 10 more to be among the top 10.

Detroit is the first team in NHL history to have three 600-goal scorers.

Hasek didn't have to do much in the first period as the Ducks only managed three shots. But in the final two periods Hasek went to work, making several acrobatic saves.

"It was not a very good first period," Ducks coach Bryan Murray said. "After that I thought we played very hard and very well in the second and third periods. Against a good hockey team like that you don't get a lot of chances.

"It was nice to get my first shutout with Detroit," Hasek said. "I didn't have too much work until the end there. They had three or four good chances, but our defense did the job for me tonight."

It was Hasek's first shutout since March 30 against the Atlanta Thrashers when he was with Buffalo.

One of his best saves came just under four minutes into the third when he dove backward to stop Paul Kariya's only shot of the night.

Right after Hasek robbed Kariya, he sprawled out in front of the net to rob Patric Kjellberg's point-blank shot.

"I looked up and I saw he was coming over, throwing his body over," Kjellberg said. "I figured he was going to land somewhere. But I felt like he didn't so I hit him. I probably should have gone under."

Hasek's 57 career shutouts are one behind Dallas Stars goalie Ed Belfour for the most among active goalies.

It was Detroit's first shutout over Anaheim since March 4, 1998 when Kevin Hodson was in the nets.
