CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Joe Thornton set up all three goals, but the Boston Bruins could not hold onto a pair of leads and settled for a 3-3 tie with the Calgary Flames.

Thornton has eight points, including seven assists, in his last three games. In seven career games against the Flames, the Bruins' captain has three goals and four assists.

Linemate Sergei Samsonov also had two assists, giving him six points in the last three games.

"We always have a knack on where the others are and as long as we keep that up, the coach is going to keep us together," Thornton said of his line. "It makes things a lot easier out there."

Chris Clark tied it for Calgary on a strange goal with 19 seconds left in the second period. He was trying a centering pass to Jamie Wright, but the puck bounced off the leg of Boston defenseman Jonathan Girard and caromed past goaltender Steve Shields.

"You're supposed to put 'em towards the net and they're supposed to go in, but I wasn't even shooting," Clark said. "I was trying to get the pass over to Jamie Wright. ... I can't say I called it, but it was nice it went in. (Girard) just knocked it in for me, so I'll have to say thank you to him."

Girard had scored to tie it at 2-2 at 5:19 of the second. Thornton shot from a bad angle at Roman Turek, putting the puck high off the goaltender's chest. Girard picked up the loose puck and slid it past Turek for his first goal of the season.

Murray opened the scoring for Boston 5:45 into the first period. Defenseman Bryan Berard had the other Bruins' goal.

Shields made 24 saves. He made several impressive stops on Calgary star Jarome Iginla, including a pair of crucial saves in overtime.

"I was seeing the puck pretty well towards the end of the game," Shields said. "I like to have my strongest period in the third when the game is on the line, so that gives me a little bit of confidence."

After scoring eight goals last October, Iginla has just one since signing a two-year, $13 million contract. He picked up an assist on defenseman Toni Lydman's power-play goal in the first period and has a three-game points streak.

"It was one of the easiest goals I've ever scored," Lydman said.

Rookie Chuck Kobasew gave Calgary a 2-1 lead 89 seconds into the second period. Marc Savard skated down the right side on a 2-on-1, getting Shields to commit before passing to Kobasew, who had an open net and an easy tap-in for his first NHL goal.

The game was delayed late in the third period after a streaker fell to the ice and struck his head. The unidentified man was carted off on a stretcher.
