OTTAWA (Ticker) -- While seeming insignificant at the time, the Philadelphia Flyers' acquisition of Eric Chouinard has proved quite beneficial. Chouinard had a goal and an assist and Roman Cechmanek made 43 saves as the Flyers earned a 2-2 tie against the Eastern Conference-leading Ottawa Senators. Obtained from Montreal on January 29, Chouinard netted his second goal in three games with Philadelphia before setting up Jeremy Roenick's tying tally late in the second period. After turning aside 28 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 triumph over the New York Islanders that snapped the team's four-game losing streak, Cechmanek allowed two goals on 19 first-period shots before stopping all 26 the rest of the way. Defenseman Zdeno Chara and Todd White scored for the Senators, who extended their home unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1). |
