DALLAS (Ticker) -- Even without Mike Modano, the Dallas Stars demonstrated their ability to stage a third-period comeback.

Jason Arnott and Derian Hatcher scored just over four minutes apart in the third to rally the Stars to a 2-1 victory over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

Second to Toronto with seven wins when trailing after two periods, Dallas converted a power-play opportunity less than 4 1/2 minutes into the final session and got the game-winner soon after to improve to 18-5-1 all-time at home against Anaheim.

The Stars, who lead second-place Detroit by three points in the Western Conference, welcomed back defenseman Lyle Odelein but lost Modano, who suffered an apparent knee injury early in the second period. The superstar center returned eight minutes later but lasted just one shift before leaving for good.

Defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh scored the lone goal for the Ducks, who had a four-game winning streak snapped and failed to equal the franchise mark of 19 road wins, set during their inaugural 1993-94 season.
