  Inside Golf - Alan Shipnuck

Sports Illustrated's Alan Shipnuck takes a weekly look at who's hot and who's not in the golf world.

1. Jesper Parnevik's pants. A nation of golf fans banged their TV sets and phoned in complaints to the network until the awful truth set in: Those trousers really were bright pink. The ugliest thing to happen to golf since Jim Furyk's swing.

2. Tiger Woods. For the second straight week he failed to win. Bonus: Not having to listen to Butch Harmon pontificate.

3. Kirk Triplett. The man in the bucket hat finally gets a W after 11 years and $4.2 million. An inspiration to wealthy underdogs everywhere.

4. Karrie Webb. Shot a final-round 64 to win the Australian Open, at 22-under par. The reason there was no press coverage? Because Karrie Webb won.

5. Bruce Fleisher. [This space left blank, in honor of Fleisher's personality.]

6. Tom Watson, Tom Kite and Lanny Wadkins. The not-so-Big Three finish a collective 43 strokes out of first place. Somehow, the Senior tour survives for another week.

7. Riviera Country Club. Who's in charge of the greens these days at Hogan's Ally? Stevie Wonder?

8. Gary Orr. The Scot won the Euro Tour's Portuguese Open, outlasting Phillip Price, Brian Davis and Tony Johnstone. Who says there are no stars left in Europe?

9. Laura Davies. A week after winning in L.A., the big-hitting, hard-living English lass finishes third in Oz, continuing her comeback. Hard to know who's happier: reporters gone comatose from covering the LPGA or UK bookies.

-10. The Woods-David Duval rivalry. They finally played together on Sunday ... shooting 72 and 74, respectively, and collectively failing to even crack the top-10, after beginning the day a mere three strokes out of first place. Makes me pine for the crackling drama of the Showdown at Sherwood.

Don't forget to check out Alan's new column, On Tour, posting each Wednesday.
