Former NHL goaltender Darren Eliot just finished his third season with the Atlanta Thrashers broadcast team after spending two seasons as the color analyst on the Anaheim Mighty Ducks radio network. Eliot served as a guest commentator during the past two playoffs with CNN/Sports Illustrated and CNNSI.com. He is also a guest writer for the Thrashers' official Web site at www.atlantathrashers.com.
Before working with the Ducks, Eliot handled the color commentary on both radio and television from 1995-97 for the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League. In addition to his play-by-play work, Eliot also wrote, edited and voiced between-period features for the Vipers.
A graduate of Cornell University with a degree in agricultural economics, Eliot was a two-time All-Ivy selection, was chosen as a member of the Red Key Society for students exemplifying excellence in academics and athletics, and earned All-America honors in 1983. He was elected to the Cornell Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996.
After college, Eliot went on to play for the 1984 Canadian Olympic team in Sarajevo before beginning his professional career. He played in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings (1984-87), Detroit Red Wings (1987-88) and Buffalo Sabres (1988-89).
