Jack McCallum
Sports Illustrated senior writer Jack McCallum, who joined the magazine's staff in 1981, primarily writes about basketball, but has reported on a variety of sports-related topics ranging from baseball chatter to electronic football. He returned to the NBA beat for the 2001-02 season, having covered the league for eight years in the Bird-Magic heyday. He has also edited the weekly "Scorecard" section of the magazine.

Throughout his career McCallum has authored several books, including Unfinished Business: On and Off the Court with the 1990-1991 Boston Celtics and Shaq Attack, which was published in 1993. On multiple occasions, his works have been included in the annual anthology The Best American Sports Writing, most recently in 1997.

A 1971 graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., McCallum and his family reside in Bethlehem, Pa.
