Kostya Kennedy, a senior writer for Sports Illustrated, joined the magazine in 1994 and covers the NHL. He currently edits the "Scorecard" section of each issue and is a regular contributor to the hockey beat.
Kennedy’s journalism experience includes time as a staff writer at Newsday, where he covered college and high school sports from 1989-91, and another stint in 1992. He was a news editor at The Queens Tribune in New York City from 1993-94.
Kennedy received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1990 and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University in 1992.
Born in Philadelphia and raised on Long Island, NY, Kennedy enjoys attending theater, playing bass guitar and reading.
