Hornets-Sixers Game 4 Preview

Charlotte hopes to sting hobbled Sixers, return to Hive

  Ernie Johnson Viewpoint

Here we go again. Injuries enter into the Hornets-Sixers equation heading into Game 4.

Allen Iverson has a chip fracture of the right ankle (to go along with his broken toe, and his inflammed right elbow, etc., etc.) but he'll play tonight in what could be the Sixers' clincher over the Hornets. But according to all reports, don't look for point guard Eric Snow to be ready. He's got the same thing Iverson has in the ankle, only worse.

Despite Snow's absence in Game 3, the Sixers were able to pull out a five-point win, because their beleaguered front line played big. Theo Ratliff had 10 points, 11 boards and 6 blocks. That performance, and a disappearing act by the Hornets' Anthony Mason (1 point, missing all 7 shots he took) evened things out in the frontcourt, and Philadelphia, with Iverson scoring 24, won the backcourt war. Eddie Jones scored 18, but only hit 5 of 18 shots, and the Hornets shot 35 percent as a team. Tough to win a playoff game with that kind of marksmanship, unless the other guys are gonna do that too, and the Sixers didn't.

I still think this series is going back to the Hive for Game 5, unless Iverson is able to put up a big number, when his body is telling him he can't ... or if the Hornets clang as many jumpers as they did Saturday night.
