In the House Former co-worker coaches Magic against KnicksUpdated: Tuesday November 21, 2000 6:50 PM
Once upon a time, Doc Rivers worked with us on TBS and TNT. Then he got this coaching offer he couldn't refuse, went to Orlando, and was the NBA's Coach of the Year last season. It was never mentioned, but we all know that his TBS and TNT experience paved the way for that honor. However, we will take no blame for what's happened to Doc's Magic on our air this season: a 26-point loss to the Heat on TNT and a 14-point loss on TBS to the Kings. Keep in mind that Grant Hill is out and Tracy McGrady's been hurting, and the magic just hasn't been there. Tuesday night they'll host the Knicks on TBS in a matchup of teams trying to chase down the Sixers in the Atlantic. This will be the fourth consecutive Tuesday night appearance for the Knicks. I'm sure that's some kind of record. We'll get our research department right on that.
And on Thanksgiving night, it's the Raptors and Pacers, the only game in town, on TNT. Keep in mind, my usual Thanksgiving Day ritual is to eat myself into oblivion and fall asleep on the den floor. Now I'll have to eat myself into oblivion, drive downtown, and fall asleep on the studio floor. Should be a good game with Vince Carter and Reggie Miller in the spotlight. Kenny and Charles and I will be working in Atlanta, and we'll be joined by former New Jersey Nets All-Star Jayson Williams, live from TNT's NBA Hawaiian House Party. You'll also get a chance to hear from Sixers guard Eric Snow, our studio guest, throughout the night. Have a great Thanksgiving, and if you get a chance, spend a little of it with us -- and save me some leftovers.
Ernie Johnson is in his 11th year as the studio host for TNT and TBS Superstation's NBA telecasts, as well as TNT's live coverage of the NBA Draft every June.
