I have never been one to publicly complain about how difficult it is to do my job. My philosophy, established very early in my career, has always been that nobody cares but me. So...

I won't describe the hour-long search for our car park, nor will I begin to touch on the mile-and-a-half walk (with equipment) to the course. I wouldn't dare offend the powers-that-be-here by getting into the battle for a small space in the media center where we could work. Much less the offense felt when the Power-That-Be said "Oh, my boy, that is for JOURNALISTS". And I, um, would be?

"Well, that wouldn't be my problem, now, would it? If I let you in, I'd have to let ABC and the Golf Channel and all sorts of riff-raff in while I'm being inundated by certified print journalists."

A-ha! There's the rub. I, being a mouth journalist, don't begin to qualify. And, being far too risky to attempt to explain THIS particular end of my endeavors here and the fact that some folks might actually "print" my work and thus...well...

No, I won't bore you with all of that, or the fact that I sit now in a corner of a small cafeteria midst the smells of burned coffee and hours-old eggs, hoping that the battery on this old machine lasts because there's no power outlet not being used by the food machinery.

And if you're wondering why I'm not out on this magnificent old course, following the action, I won't tell you that we're not allowed to shoot one second of tape while the tournament is going on because we're not "rights holders".

No, you wouldn't care about that.

I shall thus simply sit here and stew...sorry, poor choice of words, for that appears to be the lunch fare they are currently delivering. I shall simply sit here and bemoan my own fate while the qualifiers outside battle their own. And when they trudge into our vacinity and when we are so graciously allowed to talk to them, I will compare notes.

Ha! Rough? You wanna talk rough!!

Wind? Have I got some a bag o' wind for you, me boy!

Sorry, never mind.
