Show 'em how it's done, Dan
Mario Lemieux has opened a new, strange door in American professional sports. Don't you think? By convincing himself to come back to the ice, the superstar owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins gives owners everywhere the option to take matters into their own hands. The possibilities are endless. Michael Jordan, the Washington Wizards really need you. Wayne Gretzky, your first job as owner of the Phoenix Coyotes is to sign yourself to play for the Phoenix Coyotes. Steinbrenner, grab a bat. The owner I would most like to see step into the fray is 36-year-old bozo boy genius Daniel Snyder of the Washington Redskins. He seems to be the authority on all other aspects of the game, hiring and firing and deciding who should quarterback each down of each game, tinkering everywhere in a failed effort to get his bloated operation off the ground. So I think the one choice left is to get out there on the field and play, to show these over-paid, under-producing fatsos what to do. I can see you out there, Danny Boy, catching that 48-yard touchdown pass from Jeff George, dancing in the end zone. I can see you as monster in the middle, just stuffing off that run. I can see you kicking that big field goal (you need a kicker). I can see you taking the handoff, busting loose, running free ... Uh-oh. I can see Jerry Jones, cutting across the field, coming at you with a good angle. I can see Al Davis, clinking along with all that gold, Tim Mara, Georgia Frontiere, Pat Bowlen ... watch out, Dan.
