Sports Illustrated's Mark Bechtel takes a weekly look at who's hot and who's not in the world of motor sports. Click here to send him a question.

Shiftin' Down

The entire racing community: Any time a driver is killed it's tragic, but when it's a 19-year-old like Adam Petty, who is such a joy to be around, it's especially tough to take.

Oriol Servia: The CART driver failed to complete a lap for the second race in a row.

Greg Biffle: He had the truck race in Memphis wrapped up, but he ran over some fluid four turns from the checkered flag.

Gearin' Up

Jack Sprague: He caught a break when Biffle slid on the last lap and won his second truck race in six days.

Tim Fedewa: He won for the first time in almost two years on the Busch circuit with some fancy driving, as he skillfully avoided the sliding cars of Casey Atwood and Steve Park.

Michael Andretti: He became the first CART driver to notch a win in 13 different seasons by edging out Ashley Judd's groom-to-be, Dario Franchitti.
