Sports Illustrated NFL writer Peter King chatted with CNN/SI anchor Bob Lorenz on Super Bowl Sunday about the goings-on around the league:

Bob Lorenz: The Dallas Cowboys named Dave Campo their new head coach this week and now they've got their sights set on a new offensive weapon. What can you tell us about that?

Peter King: Tim Brown of the Oakland Raiders wants to be a Dallas Cowboy, there is no question about that. But there are a couple of roadblocks standing in his way. First of all, Brown has the right by Feb. 10 to exercise a clause in his contract to become a free agent and leave the Raiders. The big problems here are twofold. Not that Brown wouldn't fit into Michael Irvin's salary slot with the Cowboys -- that definitely can happen. But the problem is that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Raiders owner Al Davis are very close friends and it would be difficult for Jones to pluck away Davis' best player. The second thing is, Al Davis does not want to lose his signature player, so I think at the 11th hour he may come up with an offer to keep Tim Brown. But there is no question, Brown wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

Lorenz: San Francisco 49ers general manager Bill Walsh said on Saturday that for a while the 49ers were a lot like Camelot, that however is no longer the case. New Hall of Famer Joe Montana did not finish his career in a 49ers uniform. Is it possible that the same might happen to Steve Young?

King: I think it is very possible that Steve Young could leave the 49ers this year. Steve Mariucci told me Saturday night that the first thing on the 49ers' agenda was for him to sit down with Steve Young's neurologist, look him straight in the eye and have the guy tell him that Steve Young is healthy enough to play. If that does not happen he will not have Young cleared and will look elsewhere for a quarterback. If Steve Young has to leave the 49ers, look for him to surface with the Denver Broncos, reuniting with former San Francisco offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan.

Lorenz: Speaking of comings and goings, what about Jeff George and the Vikings... he is staying or going?

King: Jeff George's agent Leigh Steinberg told me Saturday night that he has had zero conversations with Vikings and is totally perplexed about why they have said they don't want George back. Steinberg will phone coach Dennis Green on Monday to try and get an explanation. But Steinberg's pleas will do no good: Denny Green is committed to going with Randall Cunningham and rookie Daunte Culpepper.

Lorenz: The Browns have the first pick in April's draft, but before the draft they are looking to make a splash in free agency. Who are they after?

King: The Browns want one of two running backs, either Jacksonville's James Stewart, who will be a free agent when the signing period begins Feb. 11, or Cincinnati running back Corey Dillon, who will probably be slapped with a franchise tag by the Bengals. Still, the Browns really want him. One other running back note: I learned on Saturday that Redskins running back Stephen Davis will definitely sign a new contract with the team before free agency begins.

Lorenz: What's the latest in the Saints' search for a new head coach?

King: They have narrowed it to three names: Pittsburgh defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, Jacksonville defensive coordinator Dom Capers and a third name that probably won't surface until later this week, after the national letter of intent day, University of Miami coach Butch Davis.
