Rush's UCLA career likely done

Has JaRon Rush played his last game for UCLA?
It's a distinct possibility in light of the school's decision on Friday to suspend Rush indefinitely after learning he may have had improper contact with an agent.
The possible infraction came to light last month while Rush was in Kansas City testifying before a federal grand jury investigating felony charges against his former summer coach. An FBI official contacted UCLA athletic director Peter Dalis last week to tell him about Rush's testimony.
According to a source close to Rush's family, the player has told his mother he believes his college career is over. UCLA is already on probation for violations committed under former coach Jim Harrick; but even if the Rush charges are true, they probably won't result in additional penalties for the school.
Hype getting to Porter
Auburn forward Chris Porter was a unanimous choice for AP's preseason All-America team, but he's hardly lived up to that billing so far. Porter is making just 33 percent of his field goal attempts while averaging 10.8 points per game, and several NBA scouts have told me they're not sure Porter has the offensive skills to succeed as a pro.
Auburn coach Cliff Ellis told me he believes all the preseason publicity has made Porter overly anxious. He needs to settle down soon before Auburn's soft schedule comes to a close.
Sleeper in Baton Rouge
If you haven't heard of Stromile Swift yet, rest assured you will. LSU's 6-foot-9 sophomore is averaging more than 20 points per game while shooting an astounding 72 percent from the floor.
The former high school All-American was not academically eligible last season until January, and LSU coach John Brady told me Swift really improved over the summer when he put on 21 pounds of muscle.
Now Brady had better hope Swift doesn't get too good too fast. A couple of pro scouts were overheard at last week's Great Eight speculating that Swift could be the No. 1 overall pick in next June's NBA draft.
