SPORTS ILLUSTRATED’s 50th ANNIVERSARY TOUR HEADS TO THE NATIONAL LIFEGUARDING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CAPE MAY

Free Interactive Site Features Fun Activities and Special Events for All Ages

What: The Toyota Presents Sports Illustrated’s 50th Anniversary Tour is a football field-size interactive site which brings Sports Illustrated to life for fans across the country. Complete with a main stage to showcase a variety of entertainment, SI’s one-of-a-kind sports experience will feature activities and special events that define the American sports landscape. The Tour will arrive in advance of the USLA National Lifeguarding Championships, which will be held in Cape May on August 7-9.

Admission to the Anniversary Tour is free.

When: TOUR IS OPEN THE FIRST TWO WEEKENDS IN AUGUST FOR THE FOLLOWING DAYS AND HOURS:

Thursday, July 31st 6 p.m. — 8 p.m.
Friday, August 1st 11 a.m. — 7 p.m.
Saturday, August 2nd 11 a.m. — 7 p.m.
Sunday, August 3rd 11 a.m. — 7 p.m.
Thursday, August 7th 11 a.m. — 7 p.m.

Where: Grant Street Beach, Cape May, NJ

The Tour is a key element in SI’s 50th Anniversary multi-media program, America’s Sports Illustrated: 50 Years,

50 States, 50 Sports, which is touching communities across the country with a yearlong nationwide celebration of sports

in America. It will mirror state-specific coverage in the magazine by visiting unique sporting events in 25 states from

July 2003-July 2004. New Jersey will be featured in the August 18 issue of SI, which will hit newsstands beginning

August 13.

The sports experience will cover nearly a football field’s worth of real estate and will include:

  • Toyota Field, an enclosed theater that will feature an original film highlighting the greatest sports moments of the past 50 years as selected by the editors of SI.
  • Best Buy "Best Seat in the House, " which will showcase the latest consumer electronic innovations for catching your favorite teams.
  • Starter will feature the following three elements: an exhibit profiling the Starter All-American Teen from each state as well as fun baseball, basketball, football and soccer challenges.
