Why should you hang onto that old VCR?
To relive the glory days by playing videos of your team's greatest games. Can't decide what to watch? Set up multiple viewing stations.
What's the best way to play with fire and not get burned?
For safekeeping, pack charcoal and matches in a plastic bucket with a lid and handle. Keep a fire extinguisher handy when you grill in case the flames get excitable, or follow chef and former Food & Wine special projects manager Kevin Patricio's advice: "Pack frozen water bottles in with your food. If you do have a charcoal fire, you can use the melted water to put it out." Bear in mind some stadiums don't allow charcoal grills, so check first. You might need a Plan B.
Did an all-night Rock, Paper, Scissors session fail to produce a designated driver?
Hire a bus driver to transport your crew to and from the festivities.
Doesn't it always seem like you leave a tailgate with more than you brought?
Try a new storage method for garbage: Fill up empty coolers.
What's that two-hour rule Mom was always squawking about?
Easy. Don't leave perishable food out for more than two hours.
Remember when spilled punch in the cooler ruined that great cheese dip?
Patricio has a simple solution for this problem. "Use separate coolers for drinks and food," he says. "This avoids constantly opening and closing the cooler, so your food and drinks will both stay colder." Pack what you will need first on top, and pack frozen water bottles in with the food."

Are you with the band?
Hiring a DJ or a small band can elevate your tailgate to new levels. Another idea people love: portable karaoke machines.
