In the annals of defeat, the Pirates hold the dubious distinction of being the only franchise in North America's four major professional leagues to endure 20 consecutive losing seasons. It was victory No. 81 for Pittsburgh on Sept. 3, 2013, that ensured the Pirates will not finish with a losing record for the first time since going 96-66 in 1992.
