The Hornets officially announced their name change to the New Orleans Pelicans on Jan. 24, 2013, and they also unveiled a new logo and color scheme (blue, red and gold) that will be used as soon as next season. In December, the NBA's attorney filed trademarks on five potential team names (Pelicans, Rougarou, Mosquitos, Swamp Dogs and Bullsharks), though Pelicans was rumored to be the preferred choice all along. The New Orleans Hornets officially adopted the "Pelicans" moniker on April 18, 2013, launching a new website and new social media accounts. Hornets.com now redirects to Pelicans.com.

Here are the other current franchises that have changed names without changing location.
