TIJUANA, Mexico (AP) -- Michael Carbajal, trailing on all three judges' cards, stopped Jorge Arce in the 11th round Saturday night to caim the junior flyweight championship of the fringe World Boxing Organization.

Carbajal (49-4) landed a left that sent Arce back into the ropes, then hit Arce with three strong rights to send him into the ropes a second time. The fight was called at 1:53 of the round.

Arce, of Mexico, led 98-91 on all three of the judges' cards.

"I knew I was behind. I knew I had to go for the knockout," Carbajal said. "I told him, `This isn't a loss.' He'll be back to fight for another title."

Carbajal had a cut over his right eye starting in the seventh round.

Both fighters weighed 108 pounds (48.6 kilograms).

Erik Morales stopped Reynante Jamili at the end of the sixth round to retain the WBC super bantamweight championship.

Morales, a hometown favorite, conected with a hard right that knocked down Jamili at the end of the sixth round. Referee Marty Denkin called it.

Morales (34-0) turned back the top contender in Jamili (39-5), of the Philippines.

"I was trying to hit him with the right from early on, but I was a bit short with it. Finally, I got him," Morales said. "He hit me with a couple of rights, but he never hurt me."

Morales weighed 122 pounds (54.9 kilograms), Jamili 121.5 pounds (54.7 kilograms).

The loss ended a streak of 21 straight victories for Jamili, including 19 knockouts.

"I tried to battle him," Jamili said. "He's a real great puncher, and a great champion."
