AP
1:59 2/5 -- Fastest time in Derby history, run by Secretariat in 1973.
3 -- Fillies that have won the Derby -- Regret (1915), Genuine Risk (1980) and Winning Colors (1988). There are two fillies in this year's race, including one of the pre-race favorites -- Excellent Meeting.
6 -- Trainers that have won back-to-back Kentucky Derbys. Bob Baffert, who has three horses in this year's field, will try to become the first to win three straight.
8 -- Lengths of the widest victory margin in Derby history. Four horses have dominated -- Old Rosebud (1914), Johnstown (1939), Whirlaway (1941) and Assault (1946).
9 -- Horses bred by Calumet Farm that have won the Derby, the most of any breeder. Whirlaway (1941), Pensive (1944), Citation (1948), Ponder (1949), Hill Gail (1952), Iron Liege (1957), Tim Tam (1958), Forward Pass (1968), Strike the Gold (1991). All but Strike the Gold were foaled in the same barn at the farm near Lexington, Ky.
11 -- Derby winners who have sired Derby Winners, including 1977 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.
15 -- Age of the youngest jockey to win the Derby. In 1892, Alonzo "Lonnie" Clayton rallied Azra to victory by a nose.
16 -- Winning horses whose name started with S, including seven in the last 16 years. Stephen Got Even is the "S" representative in this year's race.
21 -- Horses that have won the Derby wire-to-wire. Winning Colors (1988) was the last to accomplish the feat.
23 -- Largest field in Derby history, when Cannonade won in 1974. As few as three horses have started the race twice -- in 1892 and 1905.
26 -- Derby mounts by Bill Shoemaker, the most in history. Shoemaker won the Derby four times. Eddie Arcaro and Bill Hartack each have won five Kentucky Derbys, which ties for the most of any jockey
33 -- Horses trained by Lukas that have started in the Derby, entering this year. Lukas has two colts in this year's race -- Cat Thief and Charismatic. A Lukas horse has won the Derby three times.
47 -- Number of favorites that have won the Kentucky Derby. But it hasn't happened since Spectacular Bid won in 1979. The Derby favorite has finished last five times.
58 -- Bay-colored horses that have won the Derby, the most of any color. Chestnut is second with 39, while brown is third with 17.
93 -- Derby-winning horses that were born in Kentucky. Florida is second on the list with six. Only four were not foaled in the U.S. -- two in Canada (Northern Dancer and Sunny's Halo) and two in England (Omar Khayham and Tomy Lee)
452 -- Nominations for the Derby received in 1986, the most in history. Last year's Derby had 390 nominations.
1,320 -- Length, in feet, of Churchill Downs from start to finish.
