Over her lifetime, Silverbulletday has earned owner Bob Baffert more than $2 million. Matthew Stockman/Allsport

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- One year after winning the Kentucky Derby, Bob Baffert and Mike Pegram returned to the winner's circle at Churchill Downs as heavily favored Silverbulletday captured the 125th running of the $500,000 Kentucky Oaks.

Gary Stevens and Silverbulletday sat behind the modest pace of Jerry Bailey aboard Marley Vale. Stevens got last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner in gear with a sweeping three-wide move as the field approached three-quarters in 1:12 1/5 and pulled away unchallenged down the stretch to win by 2 1/2 lengths.

The 1-9 favorite paid $2.20, $2.20 and $2.10. Dreams Galore, with Robbie Albarado up, returned $4.40 and $2.10. Sweeping Story was up for third under Jorge Chavez, paying $2.10. The exacta was worth $9.80.

Silverbulletday improved to 4-for-4 as a 3-year-old, winning for the 10th time in 11 lifetime starts, including seven in a row. Her lifetime earnings of over $2 million are more than double of any colt running in Saturday's Kentucky Derby.

Baffert chose to enter Silverbulletday in this event while opting to send Excellent Meeting to the Kentucky Derby, where along with stablemate General Challenge is the 3-1 morning-line favorites.

Last year, Baffert and owner Pegram teamed up to send Real Quiet to a win in the Kentucky Derby.

Held as many times as the Kentucky Derby itself, the Grade I fillies race is a Derby eve fixture. The seven-horse field were covering 1 1/8 miles for the first time.

A record crowd of 101,034 came out to cheer Silverbulletday to victory. The total eclipsed last year's mark of 94,415.
