BALTIMORE (AP) -- Trainer Carl Nafzger changed his mind today, and Vicar will start from the No. 13 post in the Preakness.

"He's going to run," Nafzger said at Pimlico after he had maintained since Wednesday's post-position draw that he would scratch the colt rather than have him start from No. 13.

Nafzger said one reason he changed his mind was that he measured the track and found that the 13 post is not on the crown of the track as he believed, but is inside the crown.

He also said another reason he changed his mind was that the Florida Derby winner, a disappointing 18th in the Kentucky Derby, was doing so well.

Fourteen 3-year-olds had been entered for the 1 3-16-mile Preakness, but when the filly Silverbulletday drew No. 14, she was scratched by trainer Bob Baffert. She won the Black-Eyed Susan for fillies on Friday.

Baffert is trying for a third straight Preakness win with the filly Excellent Meeting.

Also in the field was Kentucky Derby winner Charismatic.
