DETROIT (AP) -- Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns will fight what he says is the last bout of his career against former world cruiserweight champion Uriah Grant, promoters announced Friday.

Hearns was scheduled to fight two-time European champion Crawford Ashley on Saturday at Joe Louis Arena, but Ashley tore a rotator cuff.

Hearns (59-4-1 with 46 knockouts) will defend his IBO cruiserweight title in a 12-round bout, scheduled for April 8. Hearns, 41, won the title last April in England with a victory by decision over Nate Miller.

The Detroit hometown favorite has held minor belts in every weight class from welterweight to cruiser and was the junior-middleweight champion from 1984-86.

The undercard features Laila Ali, daughter of former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, against Karen Bill. Ali, 21, a 5-10, 166-pound middleweight, has won all four of her professional bouts by knockout.

Also on the card is current IBC world champion Hector "Macho" Camacho against former world champion Scott Erickson.
