ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) -- Rookie Tom-Jelte Slagter claimed overall victory in the Tour Down Under on Sunday as Germany's Andre Greipel won the final stage to notch the 100th win of his professional career.

Slagter posted his first stage win as a professional in the third of the Tour's six stages on Thursday and was able to parlay that success into a 17-second win on general classification.

Javier Moreno of Spain was second overall and Welshman Geraint Thomas was third, having led the tour after four stages.

Slagter entered Sunday's 60-mile stage with a 13 second lead over Moreno and comfortably defended that advantage for his maiden ProTour win.
