Switzerland beats US, faces Sweden for world title
STOCKHOLM (AP) -- The United States was upset 3-0 by Switzerland in the semifinals of the ice hockey world championship Saturday.
The Swiss will face Sweden in Sunday's final after the Swedes defeated co-host Finland 3-0 in the earlier semifinal. Switzerland is guaranteed its first medal in 60 years.
Nino Niederreiter, Julian Walker and Reto Suri scored for the Swiss, who emerged as the surprise of the tournament by winning all seven of their group-stage games.
The last time Switzerland won a world championship medal was in 1953, when it took bronze.
Dallas Stars forward Loui Eriksson scored Sweden's first two goals on power plays, with both assisted by twin brothers Henrik and Daniel Sedin.
