HOBART, Australia (AP) -- American star Jenny Thompson won the 50-meter butterfly, and Sweden's Lars Frolander twice beat world champion Michael Klim of Australia tonight in a World Cup short-course meet. Thompson, winner of five gold medals last week in Sydney, finished in 58.00 seconds to hold off Sweden's Johanna Sjoberg. In the 100 freestyle, Thompson finished second to Germany's Katrin Meissner. Frolander won the 100 freestyle in 48.32 seconds, with Klim a distant fourth in 49.62. Frolander also won the 50 butterfly, with Klim finishing third.
