1998 Driver Profile
Andy Michner replaced Brian Tyler as driver of the No. 17 Chitwood Motorsports entry for the 1998 Indianapolis 500 just as the April Rookie Orientation Program was beginning. He will try to qualify for his first Indy 500 and his first Indy Racing League event.

Career
Michner began his United States Auto Club career in 1990. In 1993 he was named the National Midget Series' most improved driver, finishing third in the season standings and winning his first race.

In 1994 and '95 he was the midget series runner-up and ran three Silver Crown races, finishing eighth at Indianapolis. In 1995 he never finished worse than seventh in six sprint car races.
