1996-97 season in review
Miller never got on track in his eight 1997 IRL races. His top finish was 15th -- out of a field of 19 -- at Orlando. He crashed out of the Indy 500 and Samsonite 200 at Pikes Peak and also got caught up in another car's wreck at Las Vegas. Several times Miller's was the lone Nissan engine in a field of Oldsmobiles, and he couldn't keep up.

Career
Miller attended SCCA driving schools and even served as an instructor. He then parlayed this learning experience in 1989 to owning a car and team in the SCCA Formula Ford Series.
By 1992 he had run two races in the Firestone Indy Lights Series; the following year he won six of 12 races. In 1994 he ran a full Firestone Indy Lights season for Dick Simon Racing. During the next two years he drove for McCormack Motorsports and Brian Stewart Racing in the Indy Lights Series.
