Wim Eyckmans is a four-time International Limburg Karting champion. He then
went to Opal-GM-Lotus racing followed by a F3000 effort, which was funded
by Eyckmans and his family.
In his F3000 effort, Eyckmans was not only driver but also chief mechanic. On a
limited budget, he was sixth in his first f3000 race then in three other races he
was running in the top three before experiencing equipment failure.
In 1998, Eyckmans ran three Indy Lights races with a highlight of a tenth
qualifying slot at his first showing at California Speedway at Fontana and
running second fastest in practice.
