CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- Four people along pit row suffered cuts and abrasions during pre-race activities for the Coca-Cola 600 in which plywood buildings were blown up as part of a simulated military exercise.

Two people were treated and released from the infield care center prior to the start of the race after being hit with plywood debris behind the pit wall, said Lowe's Motor Speedway spokesman Jerry Gappens. Two others walked away.

Wayne Deloria, a pit crew coordinator for Scott Pruett's team, later returned to the infield care center complaining of dizziness. Deloria was taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center for a precautionary CAT-scan.

Deloria apparently fell during the series of explosions and may have hit his head, Gappens said.

The incident with the props occurred eight days after a walkway bridge collapsed outside of the track, injuring more than 100.

The plywood buildings were in the infield grass area between the track and pit road along the front straightaway. The track had done similar exercises the past few years without incident.
