CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Joe Nemechek, injured Tuesday in a testing crash in Delaware, will not compete in this weekend's all-star racing events.

Bobby Hamilton Jr., a Busch Series regular, will drive his car.

Nemechek broke his right shoulder and bruised his lungs in a crash at Dover Downs International Speedway.

He was testing a Busch Series car when he apparently cut a right front tire between the third and fourth turns on the high-banked Monster Mile, and his Chevrolet slid up into the wall. No other cars were involved.

Nemechek, whose brother died during a truck series race in Homestead, Fla., in 1997, is expected to be back in the car for the Coca Cola 600 on May 26.

Hamilton Jr., son of Winston Cup regular Bobby Hamilton, will now attempt to qualify for Saturday night's all-star race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Nemechek's car.

His father is Nemechek's teammate at Andy Petree Racing.

"Little Bobby has a little bit of Winston Cup experience," Petree said. "We think he's a great fit with our guys."

Hamilton Jr. ran for Chip Ganassi Racing in the NASCAR Winston Cup season finale at Atlanta last season, finishing 31st.

Hamilton Jr. said he would be doing his best to win one of the two qualifying races Saturday night so he could get into The Winston field and race against his father. Hamilton made the field by winning at Talladega in April.

"I hate to be getting in anybody's car under these circumstances but I'm glad I can help Andy and the guys out," said Hamilton Jr. "My dad is in The Winston and I'd love to run in that too. Who wouldn't?"
