JOLIET, Ill. -- With his team adding a third Winston Cup car next season, Richard Childress will announce the addition of defending Busch series champ Jeff Green to his stable of Cup drivers at a news conference Saturday.

Childress previously announced a three-year sponsorship deal with America Online. Green, who qualified the No. 30 Chevrolet in the 29th position for Sunday's Tropicana 400, is assured of the ride when the car races full-time on the Winston Cup circuit next season.

"It'll be official [Saturday,]" Childress said after qualifying ended Friday.

The ride had been intended for Kevin Harvick, but Harvick stepped into the GM Goodwrench Chevrolet after the death of Dale Earnhardt.

Green, 38, won the Busch title last season after finishing runner-up to Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 1999.
