No news Havoline cancels announcement on sponsor's futurePosted: Tuesday August 13, 2002 9:37 AMBy Marty Smith, NASCAR.com CONCORD, N.C. -- ChevronTexaco, parent company for Robert Yates Racing's No. 28 sponsor Havoline Motor Oil, on Monday night canceled a news conference scheduled for Tuesday at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The cancellation is the latest turn in an on-going speculative saga regarding the sponsor. Everything from the inability for Winston Cup driver Ricky Rudd and potential employer Chip Ganassi Racing to find common ground on contract terms -- mainly length -- to Havoline insisting that the No. 28 go with them from Yates to Ganassi has been mentioned. Havoline's current deal with Yates expires after the 2003 season.
