Gordon's Web site leads drivers' pack Posted: Thursday December 24, 1998 03:20 PM
ATLANTA (CNN/SI) -- A third Winston Cup Championship wasn't the only thing that the Winston Cup postseason had in store for Jeff Gordon. The end of 1998 marks the 100,000,000th hit achieved by Gordon's Web site, www.jeffgordon.com. The site debuted on July 20, 1996, and with the Internet's surge in popularity, Jeff again led the pack under the development and direction of Cybertrack, an Atlanta-based design and marketing company. Not only was Jeff among the first drivers to have an official site on the Web, but he was also the very first driver to display his URL on the back of his uniform. "Putting my URL on the back of our uniforms was really an easy choice for me," Gordon said, adding that he liked to "give something back" to the fans through the Web site. "I love computers and understand the value in having my own site." According to Cybertrack, Gordon's Web site records over 150,000 visitors per month. Ironically, his winning No. 24 appeared in the day's total when the site crossed the 100,000,000-mark line on November 18, ending the day with 100,124,923 hits. Cybertrack also manages sites for Steve Park (www.steve-park.com) Darrell Waltrip (www.dw17.com), Adam Petty (www.adampetty.com), The International Race of Champions series (www.irocracing.com) and CART driver Christian Fittipaldi (www.christianfittipaldi.net).
