BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) -- CART rookie Max Wilson sustained bruised ribs on his left side in a crash Saturday during practice for the Harrah's 500 at Michigan International Speedway.

Wilson spun coming off turn 2 on the 2-mile, high-banked oval and slid backward into the concrete wall. Wilson had been lapping the track at about 219 mph before the crash.

He was transported by helicopter to a hospital after complaining of severe pain in his left side. Further examination showed no broken ribs or internal injuries and Wilson was released from the hospital.

Although Wilson was not seriously injured, the Arciero-Blair Motorsports team withdrew from Sunday's race.
