LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Larry Dixon beat top qualifier Doug Kalitta in the final round to win the Top Fuel division in the SummitRacing.com Nationals on Sunday.
It was Dixon's second victory of the season, and 27th of his career. Dixon's Miller Lite dragster finished in a time of 4.608 seconds at 312.57 mph at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to hold off Kalitta's Mac Tools dragster, which clocked a 4.695 at 314.39.
"I wish we could run Vegas every week," said Dixon, who has won three straight events at LVMS. "This is awesome."
Tony Pedregon and Greg Anderson also won their divisions at the $1.8 million race.
Pedregon moved into the Funny Car points lead with his second victory of the season, and 21st of his career. Whit Bazemore fouled at the start in his Dodge Stratus, and Pedregon drove his Ford Mustang to a finish of 4.916 seconds at 283.07 mph for the win.
Anderson earned his second Pro Stock victory of the season and sixth of his career, finishing in 6.907 seconds at 200.95 mph in his Pontiac Grand Am.
