COMMERCE, Ga. (AP) -- Larry Dixon reclaimed the Top Fuel points
lead Sunday with his win at the NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta
Dragway.
Tony Pedregon, Warren Johnson and Geno Scali also won their
divisions at the $1.4 million race.
Dixon covered the quarter-mile track in 4.569 seconds at 323.89
mph for his third win of the season and the 28th of his career. It
was his second straight win at Atlanta.
Pedregon collected his fourth win of the season and 23rd of his
career in Funny Car by crossing the finish line in 4.874 at 318.77,
outrunning final round opponent Johnny Gray.
Johnson earned his 90th career Pro Stock victory and second of
the season. Johnson went 6.853 at 201.46 to hold off Greg Anderson.
Scali moved into the Pro Stock Bike points lead when final-round
opponent Antron Brown fouled by leaving the starting line early. It
was Scali's first victory of the season and second of his career.
