CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- Ted Musgrave held off Brendan Gaughan after
a late-race restart to win the inaugural NASCAR Truck series event
Friday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Musgrave, who earned his 11th career series victory, recovered
from a speeding penalty on pit road early in the race to win the
Hardee's 200.
Caution came out with three laps to go, but Truck series rules
dictate that races end under green. The race was restarted in time
for a two-lap shootout. Gaughan moved to Musgrave's right on the
restart and they raced side-by-side entering the first turn.
Musgrave moved ahead exiting the second turn and held off
Gaughan by .233 seconds for his first win of the season.
Rick Crawford finished third, and Travis Kvapil was fourth,
followed by Winston Cup drivers Kevin Harvick and Jeremy Mayfield.
Series points leader Bobby Hamilton finished seventh.
Rick Crawford finished third, and Winston Cup drivers Kevin
Harvick and Jeremy Mayfield rounded out the top five. Series points

"I had a really good run at the end before the last caution and
had a lot of distance on the field. I kept saying, 'I hope a
caution doesn't come out,' and sure enough it did," Musgrave
explained. "I guess I shouldn't have said that."
Musgrave thought Gaughan would try to get past him on the final
restart.
"He did everything he was supposed to do and I just goofed,"
Musgrave said. "I spun the wheels coming to green flag. I just had
to race him clean and he raced me clean."
Gaughan also overcame an early-race miscue on pit road to record
his best finish of the season. On his first pit stop, Gaughan
missed his stall and had to drive around the track and pit with the
lap-down trucks.
"We gave it one hell of a run," Gaughan said. "I blew it and
missed my pit stall on the first stop and went to the back. My guys
dug deep and battled back."
