(Eclipse) -- Eddie Irvine says he is keen to show the Americans a thing or two about motor racing, after once describing the Indy car scene as “dull as watching paint dry”.

However, the Jaguar driver has moderated his language in the past few months and now says:

“I am really looking forward to this weekend's race. It's always good to go to a new circuit and Indianapolis looks particularly interesting,” he added.

“Technically, it will throw up a few challenges we haven't seen before in Formula One. That main straight seems to go on forever and the banking should be interesting to say the least.”

The maverick Irishman added: “The track will also require a very different set-up to anything we have used before and tyres will play a very important role.

“The Americans certainly know a thing or two about putting on a great show and it will be up to us to give them a weekend that makes the spectators want to come back next year.”
