The Sooners fumbled the ball 10 times, losing five, but still held a 24-14 lead in the fourth quarter. Then USC tailback Marcus Allen, who finished with 208 yards, scored his second TD to get the Trojans within three. USC quarterback John Mazur led a miraculous drive to get the Trojans into field goal range, but USC coach John Robinson had no interest in a tie.
