No. 1 Ohio State 42, No. 2 Michigan 39
Nov. 18, 2006
One day after legendary Michigan coach Bo Schembechler passed away, the Wolverines and Buckeyes faced off as the top two teams in the country for the first time ever. Trailing for most of the game, Michigan appeared to gain the momentum in the fourth quarter, but Shawn Crable's helmet-to-helmet hit on Heisman trophy winner Troy Smith (and the ensuing 15-yard penalty) doomed the Wolverines. Florida blew out heavily favored Ohio State in the national title game.
