His is one of only two numbers retired by Illinois. Here's why: On October 28, 1924, Grange scored on runs of 95, 67, 56, and 45 yards -- in the first quarter. He scored a fifth touchdown in the third and passed for a sixth in the final quarter. As a pro with the Bears, his fame rivaled Jack Dempsey and Babe Ruth.
