Michael Jordan
1987
Walter's take: ''I call this one 'Blue Dunk'. We were in Lisle, Ill. I painted one parking lot red and one blue. Which one we used would depend on which uniform Michael wore to the shoot. I also brought in an NBA basket so we could roll it around and cast the shadow just right. I was in a cherry picker, waiting for the sun to break in between the clouds. That whole angle of light only lasts about 15 minutes; otherwise it's either too high or too low. I've shot Michael for a long time, but I like this shot because in it, he's young and full of pep. It's 1987, which was a long time ago. He still had hair. There are other Jordan shots I've taken that I like, but this one's sorta my favorite.''
